At the end of September, Gerhard Schubert GmbH inaugurated its new final assembly hall at the company headquarters in Crailsheim. A further 8,500 square metres are now available for the production of packaging systems.<\/strong><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

To date, the final assembly of the packaging systems from Schubert<\/a> in two halls on the factory premises. One of these will be used in future to expand the pre-assembly department. With the new Hall 3, the Final assembly area expanded by 30 per cent<\/strong>. Due to the good order situation, the company expects that half of the space in the new hall will already be occupied by the end of the current year.<\/p>

The new building fits seamlessly into the existing production complex. From the pre-assembly area, which is directly connected to the warehouse and logistics centre, it is Only a few metres to the new final assembly<\/strong>. Schubert expects a significant increase in turnover.<\/p>

The new office wing was supposed to be inaugurated at the same time as the new final assembly hall. However, construction work there is a few weeks behind schedule, which is why the opening is not planned until the beginning of November. Schubert has created a special highlight for its employees with the construction of a large, green roof terrace that can be used for breaks.<\/p>

However, not only creative thinking, but also many organisational preparations were necessary long in advance in order to realise the site expansion in Crailsheim. Although the actual construction work for the final assembly hall 3 with office wing started in the spring of 2022 In 2019, the L2218 road between Crailsheim and Dinkelsb\u00fchl first had to be relocated for the new buildings<\/strong> be realised. This was preceded by numerous discussions and consultations with the city, the regional council in Stuttgart and various interest groups of citizens, residents and environmental organisations until the first concrete planning steps and preliminary building enquiries could be made in 2017.<\/p><\/div>

By 2024, the company aims to have CO2<\/sub>-neutral production and manufacturing. In order to achieve this ambitious goal, a sustainable energy concept was developed for the two new buildings. To the The premises are heated by an underground ice storage tank<\/strong>. With this technology, water is continuously frozen and thawed again, allowing the resulting heat to be stored and utilised when needed. In Schubert's case, an ice storage tank of 1.9 million litres of water makes it possible to completely dispense with fossil fuels for heating and cooling. In addition, a Photovoltaic system with 522 kilowatt peak (kWp) on the roof of the final assembly hall to generate its own electricity<\/strong>, which has been in operation since the end of August. The new photovoltaic system complements the existing system on Hall 1 North, which has been in operation since May of this year. With both systems together, Schubert can now produce more than one megawatt of electricity and thus cover a quarter of its needs.<\/p>

The inauguration of the new final assembly hall coincided closely with Schubert's open day, which took place one day later on 23 September.<\/p>

\u201eOur open day met with huge interest. An estimated 5,500 people came to find out about our machines and working methods. The fact that we had so many visitors is thanks to our employees, who are proud of their workplace and are therefore happy to show and explain it.\u201c<\/p>
