The Blister Pack Collective from PA Consulting and PulPac aims to promote the use of renewable materials and dry moulded fibre in blister packaging. The companies have now announced that healthcare company Haleon is joining the collective as a founding company.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

PA Consulting and PulPac have the Blister Pack Collective<\/a> to reduce the use of non-recyclable plastics in packaging for over-the-counter and prescription medicines through cross-industry collaboration. The project brings companies from the pharmaceutical, consumer health and FMCG sectors together<\/strong>, progress towards a world with more sustainable tablet packaging<\/strong>, that are free from problematic plastics such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC).<\/p>

The two companies launched the initiative and developed the underlying technology for the blister packs after Haleon took the initiative. This created a Functioning dry moulded fibre tablet blister packaging <\/strong>developed. The introduction of dry moulded fibre tablet packaging could help to save 100,000 tonnes of plastic packaging for medicines every year.<\/p>

Dry moulded fibre technology minimises CO2<\/sub>-emissions - they leaves a 90 per cent lower CO2<\/sub>-footprint as wet moulded alternatives<\/strong> - and requires minimal water consumption. It enables the production of versatile tablet packaging that is comparable to PVC packaging in terms of design and number of tablets.<\/p>
