At the German Logistics Congress, GS1 Germany once again honoured companies for their sustainable commitment to logistics. The focus was particularly on reducing CO2 emissions. Chep was honoured with an award and S\u00fcdpack received the special prize.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The initiative Lean<\/span> and Green recognises sustainable, resource-conserving logistics every year with the awards and stars of the same name<\/strong>. So presented GS1 Germany<\/a>, the sponsor of the initiative in Germany, presented awards to several companies on 20 October for their success in the Reduction of their CO2<\/sub>-emissions in warehouse and logistics processes<\/strong>. At the German Logistics Congress, organised by the German Logistics Association (BVL), the Chep<\/a> the Lean<\/span> and Green 3rd Star. The 2nd Star went to Lorenz Bahlsen<\/a> Snack-World. Chep Germany is a founding member of the Lean<\/span> and Green Initiative. Since the first award of the Lean<\/span> and Green Award in 2014, the company has continuously reduces its CO2<\/sub>-emissions and always reduced over 90 per cent of total emissions.<\/strong> in view.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div><\/div>

The pallet pooling provider and expert for supply chain solutions has expanded its Logistics processes optimised through the introduction of inspection points at strategic locations at dealers and manufacturers<\/strong>. This innovation eliminates the need for separate transport to inspection sites and in the last financial year alone saved 63,200 lorry journeys in Europe and thus 4,880 tonnes of CO2<\/sub> saved.<\/p>

With the \u201eTrack and Trace\u201c project, the company is setting new standards in supply chain transparency. Trackers on pallets generate real-time data that revolutionises not only transport, but the entire supply chain<\/strong>. This enables more efficient planning, less downtime and ultimately a further reduction in CO2<\/sub>-emissions.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Commitment to lower emissions in logistics <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The family-run snack manufacturer Lorenz focussed on the Optimisation of transport capacity utilisation in customer deliveries and internal goods transport and lower heating requirements<\/strong>, in order to minimise CO2<\/sub>-emissions. In collaboration with its customers and through internal network optimisations, the snack provider was able to reduce the number of transports by 38,000 between 2014 and 2022. Energy consumption is now 22 per cent lower than in 2014, as significantly less natural gas is required for heating.<\/p>

In addition, around 750 transports between the production sites and logistics locations in Hankensb\u00fcttel, Lower Saxony, and Neunburg vorm Wald, Bavaria, were carried out using long trucks in 2022. Lorenz also supports several social projects and, as part of its certification for the Lean<\/span> and Green 2nd Star scoped over 99 per cent of its logistics-related greenhouse gas emissions and thus significantly exceeded the targets. Overall, the transport and logistics-related greenhouse gas emissions by around 35 per cent CO2<\/sub> per cubic metre of transported goods<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

With the successful certification for the Lean<\/span> and Green Award, B\u00fcnting SCM\/Logistics has taken the first step in the initiative for sustainable logistics and has set itself ambitious goals to win the Lean<\/span>and Green 1st Star. This milestone stands for a Reduction of the CO2<\/sub>-emissions along the logistics processes by 20 per cent<\/strong>. The company aims to achieve 17 per cent of this by 2023.<\/p>

The logistics service provider relies on a total of Nine different measures<\/strong>. For example, the company has converted its lighting to energy-efficient LED lamps. B\u00fcnting has also installed a photovoltaic system in its warehouse in Nortmoor. Further measures on the way to Lean<\/span> and Green 1st Star include the use of eutectic plates for cooling goods and bundling effects in the company's own procurement logistics. B\u00fcnting is also digitalising processes with AI-supported scheduling software. Dynamic planning ensures almost one hundred per cent route utilisation. The focus is also on reducing write-offs\/spoilage.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
