Kot\u00e1nyi relies on inline seal inspection systems from Engilico to automate its quality control for spice packaging. Kot\u00e1nyi supplies its herbs and spices in various forms of packaging for the retail and catering trade: classic glass or plastic jars, mills and pouch packaging, as well as tins. \u201eA An important aspect of bag quality is a perfect seal<\/strong>, to maintain the highest quality of our products and the perfect taste,\u201c explains Mr Bernhard Brenner, Operations Manager at Kot\u00e1nyi, \u201eTo this end, Kot\u00e1nyi has opted for the SealScope seal inspection, especially for their packaging lines for bay leaves and cinnamon sticks<\/strong>.\"<\/p>

The SealScope system checks with the help of Sensors attached to the sealing jaws to detect whether there is product or creases in the seal<\/strong>, which can lead to open packs. Every pack produced is immediately compared with a good reference seal, and if errors are detected in the seal, the defective packs are automatically removed from the conveyor belt by an ejection system<\/strong>. As spices are expensive, the discarded products are reworked so that no production waste is produced and the best quality is still guaranteed.<\/p>

Two packaging lines for bay leaves and whole cinnamon sticks are equipped with SealScope. These are relatively firm, rigid spices that are sure to cause a seal break if they get stuck in the sealing seam. As the spices are large, there is also an increased likelihood that the product will get stuck in the sealing area during filling and sealing. Even if the seal is not broken, the product in the seal is not acceptable for cosmetic reasons. In addition to checking for product in the seal seam SealScope also recognises folds or layers in the sealing area, which can also lead to open packaging<\/strong>. This is also important to prevent the flavourful contents from losing their aromatic properties.<\/p>

Another important function of SealScope is the Monitoring the packaging process<\/strong>. As every package is measured, trends and defects in the production process can also be registered. In the case of spices and herbs, there are often residues that contaminate the sealing jaws. For example increase in the reject rate, the packaging is automatically stopped and proactive maintenance is planned<\/strong> can be avoided. Or the machine can be stopped in good time, which can prevent the production of defective packaging and production delays.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
