Henkel is changing the packaging for its assembly adhesives and joint sealants. The company is using up to 95 per cent post-consumer recyclate in order to reduce the use of virgin plastic.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Over the past 50 years, the global production of plastics has increased approximately twenty-fold. Today, the majority of consumers and customers therefore expect sustainable solutions for product packaging in all categories. To emphasise its commitment to sustainable packaging Handle<\/a> defined ambitious packaging targets for 2025, which include, among other things, a Complete recyclability and reusability for its own product packaging<\/strong> and a 50 per cent reduction in the proportion of new plastics.<\/p>

\u201eSustainability is an integral part of our strategy, and the new packaging concept for our portfolio of assembly adhesives and joint sealants is further strong evidence of the realisation of our ambitious packaging goals - without compromising on the performance of our products. This is an important step towards further reducing the use of virgin plastic and increasing the recyclability of plastic waste through the use of PCR. We have already started the market launch of selected product groups in Central Europe and France in 2022 and will gradually roll out the new cartridges made from recycled plastic across a large part of the portfolio in other European countries by the end of 2024.\u201c<\/p>

With the new packaging concept, the company offers a sustainable alternative for consumers and craftsmen. The products, which are marketed under well-known brands such as Pattex, Rubson, Sista, Ceresit and Unibond depending on the country, include a wide range of Adhesives and sealants<\/strong> for various household and trade applications. Depending on the product portfolio, the new cartridges consist of at least 80 per cent and up to 95 per cent recycled plastic from PCR<\/strong>. Henkel launched the initiative with the relaunch of its Fix construction adhesives in Central Europe in June 2022 and will gradually roll out the new packaging concept across other product groups throughout Europe by the end of 2024.<\/p>

The new packaging concept has already been honoured with a prestigious innovation award in France. The new recycled cartridge from the Gluing instead of drilling product series was honoured by Poyfrance as \u201aProduct of the Year 2023\u2018.\u00a0<\/p>

In addition to the new packaging concept, the company is driving forward further Progress towards a circular economy<\/strong> ahead. In collaboration with Chile Global Ventures, the venture capital department of Fundaci\u00f3n Chile, the company had signed a Call for innovation for technology solutions<\/strong> The company CRDC Global Limited (CRDC) was chosen as the winner of the \u201aSeal the Cycle\u2018 initiative, which enables the recycling or reuse of the millions of used silicone cartridges for adhesives and sealants marketed worldwide. The company CRDC Global Limited (CRDC) was chosen as the winner of the 'Seal the Cycle' initiative. Henkel is now working with CRDC to adapt this technology and further reduce plastic waste.<\/p>
