Berry Global has launched a new version of its Omni Xtra polythene cling film for fresh food applications, designed to provide a high performance alternative to traditional PVC cling film.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Although Omni Xtra is already an established solution for the packaging of fruit and vegetables, meat and poultry, delicatessen and bakery products, the new Omni Xtra+ film Improved elasticity, uniform stretch behaviour and improved tear resistance<\/strong> and offers users significant sustainability benefits, including compliance with the expected requirements of the forthcoming EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).<\/p>

Omni Xtra+ is recyclable in accordance with the current European recycling directives and has received both from RecyClass and Interseroh<\/strong> certifies recyclability and compatibility.<\/p>

The film is not only recyclable, but compared to PVC it also offers More than 25 per cent overall weight reduction<\/strong> in terms of density. Both features are an important part of Berry's sustainability goals and BMore Together initiative and support the global commitment goals of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, of which Berry is a signatory.<\/p>

Equally important is the fact that the improved mechanical properties of the Omni Xtra+ film enable the production of an overall thinner film than PVC versions<\/strong>, while maintaining (puncture) resistance. Berry's new advanced manufacturing process also produces a much clearer film than traditional PE film, which is equivalent to PVC. This allows products to stand out on the retail shelf.<\/p>

Other advantages include the good workability and high elastic retention capacity, the Solid sealing properties for tight packaging and excellent product fixation<\/strong> offers. The condensation properties also ensure high product visibility. The easy handling of the film enables high throughput on automatic packaging machines.<\/p>
