The closure consists of 50 per cent post-consumer recyclate and reduces the weight.

The 20-litre premium lubricant canisters from TotalEnergies Lubrifiants produced in France and Belgium are fitted with the new closures made from 50 per cent PCR material. The raw material, which Bericap used to make the closures for TotalEnergies Lubrifiants' lubricant containers comes from TotalEnergies' own RE:clic circular polymer series. rPE57525 combines mechanically recycled polyethylene with a high-performance booster, to achieve a performance and quality equivalent to that of conventional plastic.

„At Bericap, we have set ourselves the goal of making our sustainable contribution to a functioning circular economy by developing user-friendly, resource-saving and recyclable closures. For this reason, we are delighted to be working with partners such as TotalEnergies Lubrifiants. The new DIN 60 closure for the 20-litre container is another example of weight reduction without compromising on quality or user-friendliness. A 25 per cent reduction in weight and the use of PCR is a significant step towards reducing our environmental footprint and promoting a closed material loop. We can also offer other closures such as DIN 45 and DIN 51 in PCR.“

Carsten Pfromm, Business Development Director Industrial at Bericap

The change from the previous DIN-60 standard lock to the new DIN-60-ECO enables a Weight saving of 25 per cent achieve. TotalEnergies Lubrifiants has set itself the goal of further reducing the consumption of virgin plastic by gradually introducing the new recycled closures into the various lubricant ranges.
