At drupa, Henkel will be focussing on Developments in the circular economy, reduction in CO2-footprint and innovation.

Henkel is committed to returning high-quality materials to the cycle. The adhesives used in packaging generally make up no more than five per cent of the total weight - and but their properties can make all the difference when it comes to the overall usability of the material. Henkel's RE range of adhesives and coatings has been developed for recycling and improves both the recyclability of packaging and the use of recycled material in new packaging.

One of the product highlights is Aquence PS 3017 RE, a water-based acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive developed for olefin film labels on washable PET bottles. The Labels can be removed from the bottles more easily and with less energy expenditure, while at the same time increasing the purity and value of the recycled PET. Another product is a Extrudable polyolefin-based hotmelt solution for resealable lids of food packaging that is easy to open. The adhesive is characterised by low odour and excellent transparency for a better customer experience and is compatible with both PET and PE, which improves recyclability.

Reduction of CO2-emissions

The ECO range from Henkel includes Both directly bio-based and mass-balanced adhesives, which reduce the CO2-footprint of end products and packaging. The company will also be presenting its functional coatings, which enable the transition to packaging designs made from a single material. Other topics at the Henkel stand at drupa include low-temperature adhesives and the company's expertise in life cycle assessment.

Drupa visitors will also get an insight into Henkel's EPIX technology platform, the functional barrier protection for paper packaging offers. Functional coatings for flexible packaging will be on display, as will Henkel's extensive expertise in the area of food safety. Interested parties can find out how UV pressure-sensitive adhesives contribute to energy savings and reduced emissions. Henkel will also be showcasing its advances in intelligent equipment and service solutions.

On the open Touchpoint packaging„ platform“ Damien Fourcade, Sustainability Manager Packaging at Henkel, and Martin Hilgenstock, Senior Manager in Business Development at Henkel, will be among those exploring the dynamic landscape of the packaging industry on 31 May.
