At the WorldStar Award<\/a> In 2024, 214 winners were delighted to receive an award. A total of 435 entries were submitted from 41 countries. The top five winners by country are Japan (28), Germany (21), Australia and New Zealand (16), the USA (12) and Brazil and Austria (11 each).<\/p>

Vetropack Group is launching a real innovation on the market with Echovai. The reusable bottle is made from thermally tempered lightweight glass and is characterised by a weight reduction of up to 30 percent.<\/strong><\/p>

The reusable bottle also impresses with its greater stability and significantly less abrasion than a standard bottle. The result: high cost-effectiveness and high circulation figures. The next generation of returnable glass bottles is also setting new standards in terms of sustainability and digitalisation. Reduced weight plays an important role, especially for returnable bottles, as they have to be transported back to the bottling plants. Pilot user Mohrenbr\u00e4u shows: For the types of beer that are already bottled in Echovai bottles, logistics costs have been reduced by around 1,000 tonnes of CO2<\/sub> per year. This reduces the CO2<\/sub>-emissions per bottle to just a quarter of the standard returnable bottle used previously.<\/p>

Constantia Flexibles was honoured with three WorldStar Packaging Awards in the categories \u2018Packaging Materials and Components\u2019, \u2018Household\u2019 and \u2018Health and Cosmetics\u2019 for its sustainable packaging innovations in the EcoLam mono-polyethylene (PE) family.<\/strong><\/p>

EcoLamHighPlus, a mono-material laminate with exceptional barrier properties, and EcoLam, also a mono-PE laminate, were honoured. The solutions are designed to replace non-recyclable packaging for various applications, from wet wipes packaging to fabric softener bags. The packaging manufacturer won this award in the \u2018Packaging Materials and Components\u2018 category in close collaboration with a customer, representing a significant step forward in promoting sustainable packaging and recyclability within the industry. The lightweight mono-polyethylene (PE) laminate EcoLamHighPlus has a strong resistance to oxygen and water vapour that is almost equivalent to a polyethylene terephthalate-aluminium-polyethylene (PET\/ALU\/PE) triplex laminate.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

After winning the German Packaging Award, Aldi S\u00fcd has received another award for its Tandil 3-in-1 box: the detergent packaging, which consists of 92% recycled material, has been awarded the WorldStar Award by the World Packaging Organisation.<\/strong><\/p>

The discounter was able to secure the award in the household category. As part of the Aldi packaging mission, the discounter is constantly increasing the proportion of recycled materials in its own-brand product packaging in order to make it as environmentally friendly as possible. The first targeted use of recycled plastic from the Yellow Bag or Yellow Bin in the detergent packaging of Tandil 3-in-1 Active Caps and Colour Caps was an important step in this direction. The packaging (without labels) consists of 92 per cent recycled polypropylene, the remaining eight per cent are additives, for example additives to stabilise the material. The solution was developed as part of the strategic partnership between Aldi and the Interseroh+ dual system of the recycling service provider Interzero.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Greiner Packaging impressed in the \u201aFood\u2018 category with its K3 r100 cardboard-plastic cup and the redesign of yoghurt packaging for Pierot.<\/strong><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The cardboard-plastic cup was invented by Greiner Packaging over 40 years ago and has been continuously developed ever since. With the product innovation K3 r100, the cardboard wrap and plastic packaging are separated from each other during the waste disposal process without human intervention. Achieving recyclability (up to 98 per cent) is therefore not dependent on correct separation by the end consumer. Olma Pierot wanted to make the packaging design of the creamy, fruity yoghurts more sustainable. By switching from injection moulding to thermoforming and adapting the cup geometry, it was possible to save a total of 29% plastic per cup.\u00a0<\/p>
