At this year's Fachpack in Nuremberg, P\u00f6ppelmann FAMAC will be presenting innovative packaging concepts that focus on sustainability and resource conservation. The focus will be on T-IML technology and reusable solutions for the food industry. The company has also been honoured with the German Packaging Award 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The trade fair appearance of P\u00f6ppelmann FAMAC<\/a> on the Specialist pack<\/a> 2024 emphasises the company's commitment to climate protection and resource conservation. The focus topics include innovative technologies such as thermoforming with in-mould labelling<\/strong> (T-IML) and reusable solutions for various types of packaging. The programme presented at the trade fair reflects the Group's climate strategy, whose corporate targets are based on a calculation of the corporate carbon footprint (CFF). These calculations, carried out in accordance with the standards of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), form the basis for the company's climate targets set for 2030. In order to achieve these targets, the FAMAC division is pursuing a packaging concept based on the three principles of \u201eReduce, Reuse, Recycle\u201c.\u201c<\/strong> based. The aim is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions along the entire value chain by saving materials, reusing them and improving recyclability.<\/p>\n

Innovative packaging technology for the future<\/h2>\n

A central highlight of the trade fair presentation is the T-IML technology, which offers a future-proof Solution for food packaging<\/strong> represents. T-IML combines the thermoforming process with in-mould labelling and enables the production of ultra-light and high-quality decorated packaging. This packaging not only fulfils the requirements of the new EU packaging regulation PPWR, but is also characterised by its recyclability and material efficiency.<\/p>

In the T-IML process thermoformed cups with pre-printed plastic labels to form a solid unit<\/strong> connected. This makes it possible to produce packaging from mono-materials that are fully recyclable. Based on this technology, P\u00f6ppelmann FAMAC has developed a cup for a dairy product manufacturer that can be recycled. Packaging weight reduced by around 25 per cent and recyclability increased to 100 per cent.<\/strong> increased. This new packaging saves several hundred tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions every year. At Fachpack, the company is now presenting round cups with a standardised diameter, which are available in different heights and can be closed with a uniform snap-on lid. These are to be offered as a standard T-IML programme in the future.<\/p>\n

Reusable cups for the snack industry<\/h2>\n

Under the motto \u201eReuse\u201c, P\u00f6ppelmann FAMAC will be presenting another environmentally friendly packaging solution at Fachpack: a Reusable cups for snacks such as popcorn<\/strong>. Such reusable solutions are already established in the area of drinks cups in event and sports venues, but with this new development, the company is also offering the snack industry a sustainable alternative to conventional disposable packaging made of paper or cardboard. This reusable cup offers a practical and environmentally friendly solution that not only saves resources, but also protects the environment. reduced packaging waste<\/strong>. P\u00f6ppelmann FAMAC is thus following the trend towards reusable packaging, which is becoming increasingly important in various industries.<\/p>\n

Award for innovative injection moulded cup<\/h2>\n

Another success story for P\u00f6ppelmann FAMAC is the award of the German Packaging Award<\/a> 2024. The prize was awarded for an innovative injection-moulded cup with in-mould labelling, which was developed for the own-brand range of the DMK Deutsches Milchkontor GmbH<\/a> was developed. This cup impresses with its Material savings of 20 per cent<\/strong> compared to conventional alternatives and enables a 50 per cent higher cup volume per transport box. By systematically applying the eco-design principle, the cup not only reduces the amount of material used, but also optimises transport efficiency and lowers GHG emissions. This holistic approach to resource conservation convinced the jury of the German Packaging Institute, which awarded the cup the prize in the \u201eEconomic Efficiency\u201c category.<\/p>\n
