This expansion will double the capacity for recyclable food-to-go packaging and make the plant the largest fibre-based food-to-go manufacturing site in Europe.

As part of the growing demand for food-to-go packaging, the company plans to Coveris, to expand the operating area of its plant from 1,000 to 3,158 square metres. This investment includes the Use of the latest technology, including a state-of-the-art flexographic printing press and advanced robotic systems. The aim is to optimise the production process and minimise waste. The system will be used for the production of around 700 million recyclable packaging units per year and thus reduce the company's ecological footprint.

The investment is in line with Coveris„ sustainable vision of “No Waste", which aims to reduce operational and packaging waste. Through improved waste separation systems, around 25 per cent of waste is to be recycled into new cardboard products. The expansion should be completed by the beginning of 2025.

„This expansion demonstrates our commitment to increasing the capacity and availability of our award-winning products while minimising our environmental impact.“

Jo Ormrod, President of the Paper Division at Coveris

Source: Coveris

Coveris is investing £5 million in its plant in St Neots.
