The Conference of Environment Ministers has recognised the urgent need for action in view of the insufficient quantities of packaging waste collected: Distributors should affix standardised separation labels to their packaging to increase consumer awareness and dispense with individual solutions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The reason: many consumers are unsure how to dispose of packaging correctly. However, packaging that ends up in the residual waste bin is incinerated and lost to the recycling cycle forever. It is important to support consumers in separating their waste: Because packaging can only be recycled if it is disposed of correctly.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Trennhinweis e.V. offers a simple and immediately realisable solution: standardised, free disposal instructions for your packaging.<\/p>

Numerous retailers and manufacturers are already successfully using the standardised labelling. These include the M\u00fcller and Netto Marken-Discount retail groups, B\u00fcbchen, Danone, Develey, Ferrero, Procter & Gamble, R\u00fcgenwalder M\u00fchle, Veltins and many more. Their common goal: better waste separation to keep more used packaging in the recycling loop.<\/p>

And a YouGov survey shows that the separation label is effective: On average, consumers dispose of packaging labelled with the segregation notice almost twice as often as packaging without the symbol. With the symbol for the bin and bin liner, the separation notices show the most common waste systems at a glance and make it immediately clear what the logo stands for. Thanks to the compact design, they can be integrated into any packaging layout to save space, as all the important information is contained in a single symbol.<\/p>

The logo is flexibly adaptable and can be used in colour, greyscale, black and white or as an outline - depending on how the packaging is designed and whether it is sold nationally or internationally. Optional text elements can provide additional country-specific information to make disposal easier for consumers.<\/p>

In addition, a QR code can be added to the separation notice, which displays country-specific information thanks to geolocalisation. The QR code also enables the integration of product or manufacturer-specific data. This can be flexibly updated online without having to change the packaging itself. The separation instructions have already been extensively tested in practice and have been proven to improve separation behaviour. They have also undergone comprehensive brand clearing to ensure that they can be used with legal certainty.
