This gives customers additional security with regard to the seamless supply chain and sustainable procurement of materials.

Also for packaging with food contact

Through the Combination of chemically recycled and renewable solutions Braskem is building on two of the most promising solutions when it comes to reducing the use of fossil raw materials and promoting sustainability in the value chains of the chemical and plastics industries.

Chemical recycling can also be used to recycle plastic waste that is otherwise difficult to reuse, for example coloured or mixed plastics. In this sense, Neste's chemically recycled raw material can help to increase recycling and thus reduce the amount of plastic waste that ends up in the environment.

Neste's renewable raw material can also help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by replacing fossil raw materials in the manufacture of plastics and chemical products. It is produced from renewable raw materials such as waste and residual oils and fats such as Used cooking oil or residues from vegetable oil processing manufactured.

Both solutions enable the manufacture of safe products that are also suitable for sensitive applications, for example packaging with food contact, and thus represent enormous progress for the market. The Brazilian health authority (ANVISA) has explicitly recognised this in the area of chemical recycling: Processes that produce high-purity monomers that are indistinguishable from the original fossil-based monomers and that comply with current regulations for food contact packaging can be used without special authorisation.

Source: Nests

Neste and Braskem have reached an agreement on the supply of renewable and recycled raw materials for the production of plastics and chemical products.
Braskem wird erneuerbare und recycelte Rohstoffe von Neste einsetzen, um zirkuläre und biozirkuläre Kunststoffe und Chemieprodukte herzustellen.
