UPM Speciality Papers and Michelman present three recyclable, paper-based packaging solutions to replace non-recyclable multi-material packaging. The new products combine barrier and heat-sealing technologies for applications such as frozen food and chocolate.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In co-operation with UPM Speciality Papers<\/a> and Michelman have developed three new packaging solutions aimed at replacing non-recyclable, multi-material packaging with recyclable, paper-based alternatives. The products are specially designed for Applications with high requirements for barrier effect and recyclability<\/strong> such as frozen food and products with a high moisture or fat content.<\/p>\n

The new packaging solution combines UPM's Solide Lucent base paper with three water-based coatings<\/strong> from Michelman. According to Thierry Van Migem, Sales Manager EMEA at Michelman, this combination offers a \u201erobust oxygen and water vapour barrier with heat sealability\u201c and is therefore ideal for Products such as chocolate and coffee<\/strong>. A second innovation is based on UPM Asendo or UPM Asendo Pro barrier papers and is designed to optimise Barrier effect for frozen products<\/strong> guarantee. The third solution, with Michelman's VaporCoat 2240 coating, reinforces the Resistance to water vapour and grease<\/strong> and is particularly suitable for use in corrugated cardboard packaging.<\/p>
