A food manufacturer, whose previous side-seal packaging system was becoming increasingly unreliable, was looking for a solution that could <strong>better meet the requirements of high production capacities<\/strong> could be realised. The new packaging line, which<strong> fed by an automatic cup filling system<\/strong> had to be able to cope with the high throughput of the technical environment.<\/p>\n<p>After contacting Hugo Beck's UK distribution partner, Yorkshire Packaging Systems (YPS), the company received a <strong>servo-controlled servo X side-sealing machine together with a double-chamber shrink tunnel.\u00a0<\/strong>With the integration of the double chamber shrink tunnel, the servo X packaging machine enables a potential throughput of up to 10,000 cycles per hour to easily handle the desired number of ready meals. (Image: Hugo Beck)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Vacuum belts also help to increase the process speed and at the same time ensure tighter packaging of the product. A special feature of the servo X is <strong>the execution of the side weld before the transverse weld<\/strong> - a decisive factor for tighter packaging. Precisely fitting, film-efficient packaging not only improves the visual appearance, as less film needs to be shrunk, but<strong> also lead to considerable material savings.<\/strong> In comparison with similar, competing packaging systems, this type of machine has demonstrated an average film saving of around 15 per cent, which contributes directly to achieving the company's sustainability goals.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the servo X <strong>Now an ultra-thin film is processed,<\/strong> which was recommended and supplied by YPS. The material is considered the thinnest on the market and <strong>can be supplied with a recycled content of 30 per cent<\/strong>, which brings further sustainability benefits. For the customer, this change reduced the material thickness from 35 \u00b5m to 12.5 \u00b5m without compromising performance in any way.
