It is now clear when it will come into force and what deadlines need to be observed.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-23fc59b elementor-widget__width-initial exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"23fc59b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">The European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) was published on 22 January 2025. <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/DE\/TXT\/HTML\/?uri=OJ:L_202500040\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in the Official Journal of the EU under number 2025\/40<\/a> has been published. This means that the exact dates for entry into force and the start of application have now been set:<\/p><ul><li class=\"p1\">The ordinance will enter into force 20 days after its publication, probably <strong>on 11 February 2025<\/strong>, formally in force. However, this date has predominantly legal significance.<\/li><li class=\"p1\">The <strong>PPWR regulations will largely apply from 12 August 2026<\/strong>whereby individual definitions and requirements will become binding before then. On this date, the previous Packaging Directive 94\/62\/EC will be largely repealed, although various transitional periods will remain in place.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e677e43 exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"e677e43\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Stricter guidelines for a healthy future and less waste<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5e86a62 exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5e86a62\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The new regulation applies to all packaging placed on the market in the European Union and all packaging waste, regardless of the type of packaging or the material used. The regulation is therefore relevant for companies in all sectors. It defines comprehensive requirements for recyclability and sustainable packaging design. At the centre of the new regulation is the obligation to regulate the entire life cycle of packaging in order to strengthen the principles of the circular economy, reduce packaging waste and protect consumers from substances of concern in packaging.<\/p><div class=\"packa-in-post-alle\" style=\"text-align: center;\" id=\"packa-2846123414\"><div id=\"packa-726610956\"><a data-no-instant=\"1\" 94\/62\/EC, which was last updated by the amending Directive (EU) 2018\/851. This earlier directive laid the foundation for the harmonisation of packaging and waste management in the EU and has now been significantly tightened by the new provisions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f609c9b exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f609c9b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Difference between \u201emanufacturer\u201c and \u201eproducer\u201c<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ad03e8a exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ad03e8a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The regulation brings clarity to the terms \"manufacturer\" and \"producer\", which are defined differently in the regulatory context:<\/p><p><strong>Manufacturer<\/strong> refers to the producers of the packaging itself.<\/p><p>In contrast, a company becomes <strong>producer<\/strong>by placing packaging on the market, regardless of whether it is produced in its own country or internationally. Example: A yoghurt manufacturer that has pots produced in China and sells them in the EU.<\/p><p>The term manufacturer covers extended producer responsibility and refers in particular to the second stage of the packaging's life after it has been placed on the market in a Member State. This includes disposal and recycling, which must be organised by the manufacturer.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-df87a6c exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"df87a6c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\"
