The company uses paper from FSC-certified forests that are the required level of protection from oxygen and light for example through the application of different coatings.

„Our joint effort to develop this solution supports the move to use a higher proportion of paper, thereby reducing carbon emissions. Our paper-based solution provides barrier properties that help the packaging offer comparable shelf life and food protection to traditional aseptic cartons for liquid dairy products such as milk.“

Giorgio Bosso, CEO of Nissha Metallising Solutions

Marco Marchetti, Vice President of Packaging Materials and Sales Distribution Systems, Tetra Pak, is also convinced by the paper-based solution: „Building on the high proportion of paper in our cartons, the paper-based barrier increases the proportion of paper to around 80 per cent and increases the total renewable content of a cartonboard to 90 per cent in combination with plant-based polymers - which reduces the carbon footprint by a third (33 %). The Tetra Brik Aseptic 200 Slim Leaf carton with a paper-based barrier, which we have already launched in Portugal, shows how the paper-based barrier can pave the way to a low-carbon circular economy for tomorrow's packaging.“

Further advantages of the paper-based barrier are also expected in the downstream sector, where cartons with a higher fibre yield are likely to become more attractive for paper mills. In this context, the paper-based barrier represents an opportunity for recycling infrastructures and their efficiency, as it changed the material structure of cartonboard packaging from three to just two main materials - paper and polymers.

Source: Nissha

Nissha Metallizing Solutions (NMS) and Tetra Pak have developed an aseptic milk carton with a paper-based barrier made from FSC-certified paper.
Nissha Metallizing Solutions und Tetra Pak haben einen aseptischen Milchkarton mit einer papierbasierten Barriere aus FSC-zertifiziertem Papier entwickelt.
[58781
38,60643,32,1487,58846
0":"post-98696","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-green-packaging","8":"tag-lebensmittel","9":"tag-nissha-metallizing-solutions","10":"tag-packmittel-und-packstoffe","11":"tag-papier-pappe-karton","12":"tag-tetra-pak","13":"cs-entry","14":"cs-video-wrap
["GET
