How do you strike a balance between product protection, sustainability and legal requirements? This question was the focus of the discussion with Thomas Lux, Managing Director of the Centre for Food and Packaging Technology (ZLV) in Kempten. The experienced packaging expert has headed the institution since July 2023 - with a clear focus on practical solutions.<\/p>\n

In the video, Lux sheds light on the challenges of multilayer-based packaging solutions: They are often ideal for protecting sensitive food, but are considered difficult to recycle. Lux explains what developments are currently available to make these systems more recyclable - for example, through single-origin barrier layers or innovative separation processes.<\/p>\n

Another focus is on smart and active packaging: Can freshness indicators, NFC tags or intelligent sensors actually help to reduce food waste and better control shelf life? Lux provides realistic assessments - and identifies the opportunities and limitations of these technologies.<\/p>
