When it comes to sustainability, the focus is often on packaging. However, labels also have an impact on the recyclability of packaging and, in the worst case, can disrupt it. To prevent this from happening, companies are developing sustainable and efficient solutions that fulfil both industry requirements and sustainability aspects. In the latest episode of our packaging people podcast, editor-in-chief Jan Malte Andresen talks to two experts from Herma about sustainable solutions.

Marcus Gablowski is Sustainability Manager at Herma and is focussed on the company's ecological responsibility. Of course, this also applies to the company's products, which range from labels to labelling machines. As Product Manager, Hendrik Kehl also always has an eye on developments and sustainable solutions. The experts know that labels are omnipresent and can be found in a wide variety of products. From shampoo bottles to food packaging, labels should contain information and be sustainable. But how can these small stickers be made sustainable?

Episode 15: Bonding with responsibility

The market is dynamic and the demand for sustainable labels is increasing, as Hendrik Kehl explains:

Over the past five years, we have seen increased demand from customers who want to drive forward their own sustainability goals.

The company is in a special situation - Herma not only produces labels, but also labelling machines, giving it a unique position in the market. When it comes to sustainability, however, it's not just Herma that matters, says Marcus Gablowski:

„Sustainability is not just the responsibility of one company, but of the entire industry. Together, we can bring about positive change and meet the growing needs of our customers.“
