More than 20,000 visitors attended „ProSweets“ in Cologne at the end of January. The supplier trade fair for the confectionery and snack industry once again recorded an increase in visitor numbers. 325 exhibiting companies, including 106 from Germany, occupied a total of 21,000 square metres of exhibition space. The expected synergy effects were achieved with the larger „ISM“ trade fair for confectionery and snacks, which was held in parallel at the Cologne exhibition centre and at which 1,656 companies exhibited. This is according to the final report of „ProSweets“, which has now been published. The confectionery packaging and packaging technology sectors played the expected strong role during the trade fair.
Katharina C. Hamma, Managing Director of the Cologne Trade Fair, was delighted after the end of the „ProSweets“ that more than 80 per cent of the exhibitors have already confirmed that they will return next year. One reason for the Exhibitor satisfaction This is probably due to the fact that decision-makers from management, research and development departments and design engineers were actually well represented among the visitors. The organisers reported exhibitor reactions that spoke of a high willingness to invest on the part of trade fair visitors.

Strong interest in packaging topics
There was a strong interest in the topic of packaging, which this year was Special show „Packaging - Function meets Design“ was additionally illuminated. The Packaging theme, but also planned changes to recipes and presentation forms of confectionery were the dominant topics at the stands and in the Forum and lecture programme. For the revisions of the recipes, the DLG organised special guided tours. In addition, mechanical and technological optimisation, resource efficiency and solutions for transparency in the supply chain met with great interest among trade visitors.
