Cognex introduces In-Sight® 3D-L4000, a new integrated 3D vision system. According to the company, the first smart camera with 3D laser profiling technology solves a range of inspection applications on automated production lines precisely and cost-effectively.
„Until now, 3D technologies have been too expensive and complicated for most customers to solve inspection applications,“ says John Keating, 3D Business Unit Manager at Cognex. „The In-Sight 3D-L4000 overcomes old hurdles by offering a wide range of true 3D vision tools that are as easy to use as the industry-leading In-Sight 2D vision tools.“
3D image processing system expands inspection spectrum
The 3D-L4000 combines patented speckle-free blue laser optics and the widest range of true 3D vision tools with the flexibility of In-Sight Spreadsheet. This All-in-one solution captures and processes 3D images with impressive quality and speed for inline inspection, guidance and measurement applications. With the ability to place vision tools directly on a real 3D image of the part, the 3D-L4000 offers greater accuracy compared to conventional systems. This expands the possible inspection spectrum. In addition, because inspections are performed in 3D, users can immediately observe how the vision tools perform on the actual part.
The 3D image processing system has All necessary 3D measuring tools such as plane and height determination. It also includes a comprehensive set of 3D vision tools. They have been designed so that inspections in a real 3D space are possible. The intuitive In-Sight Spreadsheet user interface makes it quick and easy to set up and run 3D applications without the need for programming or external editing. It simplifies application development and streamlines factory integration with a complete set of I/O and communication features. 2D and 3D vision tools can also be combine in the same application, which leads to faster implementations.
The In-Sight 3D-L4000 is available in three factory calibrated models with different fields of view. It is suitable for applications in a range of industries such as packaging, food and beverage and consumer goods.
