Beck Packautomaten turns 65: The family business from Frickenhausen has developed from a garage idea into an international specialist for packaging solutions.
Beck Packautomaten celebrates its 65th anniversary on 9 May 2025. What began in 1960 with an innovative idea in a garage in Nürtingen has developed into an internationally active company known for its customised packaging solutions.
The beginnings: Innovation from the garage
In the 1950s, textile entrepreneur Hans Beck recognised the growing need for attractive product packaging for the retail trade. With the aim of presenting his textile products in an appealing way, he developed the first prototype of a fully automatic packaging machine in his garage in 1958. The response was overwhelming, and on 9 May 1960 he founded „Nürtinger Textilpacker beck + Co.“.“
Expansion and diversification
The customer portfolio quickly expanded beyond the textile industry. Demand from the printing and paper industry led to the development of the first series packer, which still has a unique selling point on the market today. In 1965, the company moved to Frickenhausen to meet the growing demand for space. A new plant was built there, which is still the company's headquarters today - To the chronicle of the company

Technological milestones
In the decades that followed, Beck Packautomaten developed a wide range of packaging solutions, including series packers, forming shoulder machines, banding machines and shrink tunnels. These machines were used in a wide range of industries, from the food industry to e-commerce and the automotive sector. Particularly noteworthy is the introduction of packaging solutions for the mail order business that meet the increasing demands of online retailing .
Generational change and continuity
