The manufacturer-organised take-back systems RIGK, GVÖ and KBS have founded Packliance GmbH in Wiesbaden. The new service company is intended to support industry and trade in the EU with the practical implementation of the future EU Packaging Ordinance (PPWR).

Packliance will be a central point of contact for companies that need to adapt their processes to the requirements of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation. According to the partners involved, the new company combines experience and network expertise from existing manufacturer-supported take-back systems. The focus is on structuring complex regulatory requirements and transferring them into operational processes in a legally compliant manner - in line with the guiding principle: „Rules multiply. We simplify.“

Focus on industrial and commercial packaging

Packliance's services are aimed at producers and manufacturers who place industrial and commercial packaging on the market - regardless of the type of material used. The consulting process begins with a comprehensive inventory in which roles and obligations are identified and GAP and risk analyses are created with regard to the PPWR requirements. Digitally supported tools should help to record and analyse data and processes in a structured manner.

On this basis, Packliance supports companies in the compliance process, for example by assisting with the creation of technical documentation, setting up data platforms and communicating with the relevant authorities. Another focus is the EU-wide implementation of extended producer responsibility obligations, including advice, registration and quantity reporting to national systems. Packliance also offers the provision of authorised representatives for manufacturers and producers in various EU member states.

Support in a dynamic legal framework

As things stand, the EU Packaging Regulation will be further concretised in the coming years through numerous delegated acts and implementing acts. According to Packliance, it therefore intends to provide its customers with long-term support and keep them up to date on changes to labelling requirements, recyclate content, reuse quotas, design-for-recycling requirements and verification procedures. This should help to ensure that processes are not only PPWR-compliant, but also efficient.

Packliance GmbH is based in Wiesbaden. The Managing Director is Jan Bauer, supported by Business Director Maria Hentze. The existing business activities of the shareholders GVÖ, KBS and RIGK will remain unchanged; the new unit will supplement the existing range of take-back systems and EPR services with specialised PPWR consulting and implementation services.
