The reorganisation of Casimir Kast Verpackung und Display GmbH in Gernsbach is progressing. In the ongoing investor process, several strategic interested parties have signalled their interest in taking over the company, while the business operations of the traditional packaging manufacturer continue without restrictions.
Following the scheduled opening of insolvency proceedings on 1 December 2025 by the Baden-Baden district court, lawyer Dr Dirk Pehl from the law firm Schultze & Braun was appointed insolvency administrator. Pehl had already initiated the investor process before his appointment in order to explore options for a sustainable continuation of the company.
Several strategic investors under discussion
According to the insolvency administrator, the search for a new owner is progressing constructively. „We are confident that we will be able to give Casimir Kast a successful long-term economic perspective again with the entry of an investor,“ says Dr Dirk Pehl from Schultze & Braun. „There are already a number of interested parties with whom good and constructive talks are being held.“ It is therefore considered possible that an investment will be made before the end of the winter.
Pehl also sees the fact that Casimir Kast was able to hire additional employees during the restructuring phase as a positive sign. This is seen in the industry as a sign that the reorganisation concept can work and that the company is fit for the future.
Business operations continue as normal
According to the company, operations at the Gernsbach site will continue in full. Existing and new orders will therefore be processed, produced and delivered as planned. Managing Director Christian Oetker-Kast points out that packaging continues to be a key element in purchasing decisions and that the underlying business model is therefore intact. Customer relationships are stable, and the reputation built up in the industry over decades contributes to customers remaining loyal to the company.
Traditional company for cardboard and corrugated cardboard packaging
Casimir Kast has been based in the Gernsbach region for 475 years and has been family-run for 13 generations. Around 150 employees at the site develop and produce cardboard and corrugated cardboard packaging for market leaders in the fast-moving consumer goods sector as well as for well-known branded companies and their agencies in Germany and neighbouring countries.
