Höcker Polytechnik: new cutting unit makes shredders even more effective

Punching has never been as efficient as it is today. The PHSS shredders from Höcker Polytechnik shred the punching grids and gripper edges directly at the punch into palm-sized pieces. The material can then be easily fed into the existing automatic recycling cycle. Over 100 of these productivity-enhancing combinations are already in use worldwide.

Modern flatbed die-cutters process up to 10,000 sheets per hour and are the epicentre of cardboard and folding carton production. However, a rather annoying by-product of this production power is the bulky waste produced with each die-cut sheet. Punching grid and gripper edges. Some of these voluminous waste masses are still disposed of manually and can usually only be fed into the recycling process just before the material compacting unit. This is an expensive and time-consuming process in an otherwise largely automated production process. Every PHSS shredder with connection bonnet from Höcker Polytechnik is specially designed for the respective punching dimensions and can be easily operated directly on all standard flatbed punches such as those from Bobst, EMBA and many others.

Punching and shredding

The PHSS gripper edge shredder has been further improved based on a wealth of experience. The 2017 model has been completely redesigned and is now even more powerful and more flexible applicable. This shredder version has an even more powerful cutting unit, the overrun of the cutting unit is prevented by a brake motor and the shredder works even more safely.

The successful basic principle of the shredder has of course remained the same. Thanks to the articulated rollers, the PHSS shredder is ready for use within a minute and can be removed from the die cutter just as quickly. Accessibility for adjustments to the die cutter is considerably simplified by the simple shredder handling.

Display

The high-speed cutting unit is particularly Durable and Self-cleaning. It is designed for continuous use and also processes material peaks reliably. A porthole on the PHSS shredder allows visual inspection at all times. In the lower shredder area, an axial fan blows the shredded material powerfully through a discharge chute to the discharge point. This consistently prevents material jams, even with a working width of 1,700 millimetres. The fan's blade geometry is inspired by bionics and works particularly quietly.

Energy efficiency pays off

The PHSS shredders are equipped with IE3 motors from 7.5 to 15 kW, depending on the grammage and material volume. In normal operation, the 7.5 kW shredder, for example, makes do with around 2.5 kW and has a 5 kW power buffer to reliably process all material peaks. Another energy-saving turbo is the Optimum size of the shredded material for pneumatic disposal. The volume flow required for material extraction can be significantly reduced. Compared to a non-shredded punching grid extraction system, the extraction capacity can be reduced to a third.

The PHSS shredder is supplied ready to plug in with a control cabinet: simply connect and benefit from fully automated punching operation.
