The start-up „PackEx“ rates the progress of its pilot phase as successful. The Worms-based company reports that the business model designed for B2B sales, which involves the fully digitalised and automated production of standard folding boxes, has been well received.
PackEx is a subsidiary of the August Faller GmbH & Co. KG. It specialises in the development of customised Folding boxes in small editions of 1 to 5,000 pieces to be produced. Various technological innovations are utilised in the process: a newly developed laser process, an automated Production workflow and modern offset and digital printing processes in seven-colour mode. According to PackEx, it currently employs 20 people.
„After successfully completing our pilot phase, we can say that our business model is proving its worth.“
Marco Dembowski, Head of Business Development & Corporate Communications at PackEx
PackEx relies above all on its Web-to-Pack concept. Thanks to automation and standardisation processes, this enables cost-effective Individualised mass production. Expensive and complex customised products are no longer necessary.
Virtual warehouse for product management
This is how the start-up describes the workflow: The intelligent Operating interface decides automatically whether offset or digital printing is required. In the virtual warehouse in the PackEx B2B app users can save their products and manage, duplicate or order them with a single click. Physical delivery takes place within 72 hours.
Unlike the parent company, which specialises in Pharmaceutical packaging PackEx has specialised in the Open to all sectors designed. This has been successful, according to the company. Customers include those from the food and cosmetics industries, as well as the marketing and healthcare sectors.
