Sustainable materials that are easy to recycle are now important parameters when choosing suitable packaging for branded goods. Paper-based solutions play a decisive role here and are increasingly replacing composite packaging. Sappi offers even more options for this with its optimised Guard M and Guard MS papers.
As a trendsetter in paper-based packaging with integrated functionality, Sappi is one of the world's leading providers of sustainable solutions. In order to offer its customers even better solutions, the company has expanded its product portfolio with integrated mineral oil barrier optimised once again. Thanks to their mineral oil barrier (MOB) and grease barrier, the four sustainable papers in the Sappi Guard family offer a very high level of product safety and are fully recyclable. With packaging produced from these papers, manufacturers strengthen confidence in their brand and save time and money.

„The integrated mineral oil barrier prevents MOSH and MOAH compounds from penetrating the packaged goods. On the one hand, this makes additional special coatings or laminations superfluous. Sappi Guard M has a mineral oil barrier and, with Kit 11, a very high grease barrier. Sappi Guard MS also scores points with its heat sealability, which eliminates the need for additional production steps and materials as a sealing medium. The manufacturer offers both papers in two variants: „Nature“ is uncoated and therefore has a natural grey appearance, while „Silk“ impresses with even better printing results and a silk-matt look.

Branded goods manufacturers can use the four sustainable paper solutions in the Guard family, which is available worldwide, as primary or secondary packaging for dry and slightly fatty foods such as pasta, rice, cereals and various powders. The Guard M barrier papers are also suitable as liners for transport packaging, as they prevent mineral oil migrating from recycled cardboard and paper into the food. Sappi supplies all Guard papers with FSC certification on request.®- or PEFC™ certificate, whereby the companies emphasise their sustainable actions.
