On 17 September, the time had come again: the annual award ceremony was held in Cologne. "Product innovation in glass" was awarded. The Glass Packaging Action Forum honours Unique products packaged in glass from the food and beverage industry that stand out. The independent jury faced the daunting task of selecting the winners from the numerous submissions.

Category: Small companies

Presenter Alexandra Kröber revealed the secret of this year's winners of the "Product Innovation in Glass" award at Pe303 in Cologne. In the category "Small companies" There was a special feature this year: the jury selected two winners in this category out. One of the winners is "költ" of költ GmbH. According to the jury, 'költ' impresses with its successful overall concept. The idea of combining Altbier and Kölsch, and thus the cities of Düsseldorf and Cologne, in one beer shows courage and innovative spirit. The product is deliberately and skilfully translated into the glass bottle as packaging, which stands out from other beers thanks to the high-quality and well thought-out label and at the same time tells the unique story of the product.

In addition, the "Mini Moonshine Jars" impressed the jury. The 'Mini Moonshine Jars' from O'Donnell Moonshine GmbH impress with their originality, distinctive look and functionality. As ready-to-drink shots in small glasses, they stand out from the crowd and are a practical, varied product for the consumer. With the new miniature size, the company has consistently realised the glass design of its product range in an innovative variant.

Category: Medium and large companies

In the category "Medium and large companies" Henkell & Co. Sektkellerei KG convinced the jury with its "Freixenet Prosecco D.O.C.". The 'Freixenet Prosecco D.O.C.' is a classic product that becomes an eye-catcher thanks to the striking decorative bottle. Despite the typical bottle shape in this product segment remaining the same, the external redesign of the bottle creates an innovation that fulfils the competition concept and stands out due to its uniqueness and festivity, the jury explained. The company was doubly pleased, as the participants at the Glass Trend Day also decided in favour of the "Freixenet Prosecco D.O.C." as their "public's favourite".
