Halstrup-Walcher, the specialist for drive solutions, positioning systems and pressure measurement technology from Kirchzarten in the Black Forest, is presenting the latest version of its PSD direct drives at SPS 2019. The integrated drives have been expanded to include Profibus and EtherCat interfaces.
Thanks to the technical upgrade, the PSD direct drives from Halstrup-Walcher is now compatible with four bus systems. In addition to the new interfaces for Profinet and EtherCat system components can also be CANopen or IO-Link can be integrated into the bus network. The Kirchzarten-based automation technology company also points out that further bus interfaces can be implemented on request.
The PSD direct drive system is supplied by Halstrup-Walcher as a Modular system offered. According to the manufacturer, the advantage for users is that they can convert their machine to a new format in a very short time. The PSD components therefore speed up commissioning and increase production quality, including through a self-monitoring mechanism that prevents unintentional Position changes recognises exactly.

The Kirchzarten-based company's product catalogue contains numerous variants and options for PSD direct drives. In addition to the appropriate bus interface, the maximum torque, the IP protection class, the connector orientation and the optional hollow shaft can be selected. The stepper motors with Nema 17 and 23 achieve up to 1000 revolutions per minute. All relevant subsystems for automatic format adjustment are already integrated in the intelligent drives. This makes the direct drives ideal for frequent Format adjustment in machines.
