In April, Verpackungstechnik Jetter GmbH in Bad Tölz, Upper Bavaria, celebrates its 25th anniversary. With its standstill-free web splicing process LabelLink®, the company is now established worldwide in the pharmaceutical sector, both with local and global manufacturers.
„We have LabelLink® developed from our practical experience in the packaging sector in the pharmaceutical industry, which has certainly contributed to our success over the last 25 years,“ says Managing Director Ralf Jetter.

LabelLink® in use worldwide
In the early years, the LabelLink® process was used at the usual clock rates of the time. from 50 to 80 cycles per minute The system was initially used in manual mode, but an automatic solution was soon required for speeds of 100 cycles and more per minute. With the automatic version, the system achieved an uninterrupted reel change at speeds of sometimes over 500 cycles per minute.
With LabelLink® , the operating personnel at the end of the reel are not under time pressure, as Reel change and splicing process decoupled in time are. LabeLink® also saves space: in addition to the stand-alone version, the splicing device can also be used on small labelling systems in confined spaces because LabelLink® does not require an additional dispensing device for stationary splicing.
New development JetSplice®-process with JetSplice®-matrix
For the 25th anniversary Jetter has now come up with a new „hit“ that greatly simplifies the LabelLink® process even further and therefore has the potential to open up a large number of other industries. The new JetSplice® process and the JetSplice® matrix are in the final stages of development. Unlike the traditional LabelLink® process, the labelling reels no longer need to be equipped with a splicing tape core by the label manufacturer. Instead, the JetSplice® matrix is automatically applied directly in the splicing unit so that the standard label rolls supplied by the label manufacturer are sufficient for the splicing process. The additional mechanical solution can be individually solved by the labelling machine manufacturer using the tried-and-tested splicing head, depending on the technical conditions on the packaging line.

„We work directly with the respective labelling machine and splicing unit manufacturers to adapt the JetSplice® process and the JetSplice® matrix to the labelling machine. We are currently in talks with a number of manufacturers, but we are also looking forward to receiving further enquiries from this group,“ says Ralf Jetter.
JetSplice® opens up additional markets
With the JetSplice® process and the JetSplice® matrix, the user has complete freedom of action in the splicing process. Technical and financial arrangements with the suppliers of the label rolls are no longer necessary. Furthermore, with the new JetSplice® process and the JetSplice® matrix, the splicing process is not only possible at the end of the label roll, but also at any time, i.e. even when the roll is broken.
It is foreseeable that the LabelLink® technology, which has been tried and tested for 25 years, will also in many other sectors outside the pharmaceutical industry. With JetSplice®, Verpackungstechnik Jetter GmbH is giving itself and the packaging industry the best birthday present for 25 years of LabelLink®.
