Bobst has become a member of CEFLEX (A Circular Economy for Flexible Packaging), the joint initiative of European companies and associations that covers the entire flexible packaging supply chain.
The company shares the CEFLEX missionwhich Increase the performance of flexible packaging in a circular economy, by cooperating with companies that cover the entire supply chain to develop better system solutions.
One Circular economy is based on the principles of developing reusable and recyclable products and materials, that can be kept in circulation to avoid waste and environmental pollution in supply chains.
„We share CEFLEX's vision and goals and believe that our partnership will enable us to achieve our common goals faster, benefiting both the packaging industry and our environment. For flexible packaging, there is Special challenges with regard to recycling. Finding solutions for these is currently a particular Focus of our work. With more than 130 members from all areas of the entire supply chain focusing on the same goal, CEFLEX is a very Efficient body, to achieve the goal of a truly circular economy for flexible packaging. We look forward to sharing our experience and expertise with the other members,” explains Eric Pavone, Business Development Director in the Web-fed division at BOBST.
Flexible packaging - i.e. among other things Stand-up pouches, bags, films, sacks, liners and banderoles - in view of the wide range of different materials, which are used in their manufacture and usually result in several layers of different types of plastic, difficult to recycle. The development of Composite solutions made from monomaterials with a high barrier effect, which can be easily recycled, is currently a key focus for Bobst and its partners.
The same applies to Composites made from paper and bioplastics with a high barrier effect as alternatives. At the K 2019 trade fair, the company, together with several industry partners, presented the first industrially applicable results The company is presenting various newly developed composite solutions made from monomaterials with a high barrier effect that fulfil all the industry's requirements for their workability, their barrier effect, their safety and their visual quality fulfil.
