SIG puts fully automated spare parts warehouse into operation

The new, ultra-modern and fully automated AutoStore spare parts warehouse for SIG filling machines, realised by Hörmann Logistik, was recently put into operation and now ensures efficient delivery to SIG customers.

The new AutoStore spare parts warehouse at the machine assembly site in Linnich, Germany, is a An integral part of global spare parts management the SIG.

Effective 24-hour operation thanks to robots

The new warehouse is based on a modular system in which Stackable crate containers from robots loaded, stored and unloaded - guided by a Routing software. The system includes the putaway, warehousing and picking processes for all containerised articles. The storage and retrieval processes take place vertically.

This closed system prevents unintentional material removal and ensures effective 24-hour operation. With a consumption of just 0.1 kW/h, the robots are extremely energy-efficient and save more than 90 per cent energy compared to more conventional solutions.
