Another increase in sales and more employees: the Uhlmann Group closed the 2019/2020 financial year with this track record. The COVID-19 pandemic had little impact on the result.
Tobias Uhlmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Uhlmann Group, cites two factors for the company's success. „On the one hand, the positive development is based on the innovative strength of the individual companies and, on the other, on the overall culture and values that characterise us - such as openness and reliability.“
Group increases its sales once again
During the 2019/2020 financial year, which ended on 31 March 2020, 428 million, the Uhlmann Group increased its sales from. euros to 434 million euros. „In view of the initial effects of the coronavirus pandemic in February and March 2020, we are satisfied with the result. All Group Companies - Uhlmann, KOCH, Cremer, Wonder, Axito - have developed positively in the past financial year,“ explains Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Niemeyer, Chief Business Development Officer of the Uhlmann Group, who is currently assuming the responsibilities of CEO Norbert Gruber, who passed away at the beginning of July.
Financial year characterised by realignment
The financial year was characterised by the reorganisation of the Group: since October 2019, there have been the Uhlmann Group Holding. The holding company manages and coordinates all overarching issues so that the Group companies can concentrate on their business areas.

Overall, the number of Uhlmann Group employees worldwide rose from 2,334 to 2,515 in the past financial year. There were numerous new hires in the Group Companies, in particular in the Digital Solutions business unit in Laupheim and in Wroclaw, Poland.
„In Poland we have a new plant under the name Axito which produces high-quality machine parts and components. This will enable all Group companies to reduce their dependence on external suppliers.“ Tim Slomp, CTO of Uhlmann Pac-Systeme
The company has significantly expanded its digital expertise in Laupheim. The Digital Solutions business unit, which was created in September 2019, now employs over 100 digital experts, which develop solutions for track & trace, digital training, tool management and condition monitoring, for example.
Well through the corona pandemic
These digital competences also contributed to the fact that Uhlmann continue to serve its customers during the travel restrictions could. The companies in the Uhlmann Group developed new service and marketing solutions to support and reach their customers. For example On-schedule machine acceptance via live chats and video conferences be carried out.
In addition, important trade fairs were cancelled in May due to the coronavirus pandemic, which prompted Uhlmann and KOCH to establish interactive formats at short notice. UHLMANN LIVE! and KOCHlive were not only the highlights planned for the 2020 trade fairs presented online, but also created a digital platform for dialogue with customers. Overall, the the COVID-19 pandemic has hardly affected the course of business so far. Early, cross-company crisis management and the rapid implementation of appropriate measures made a significant contribution to this.
