Spanish label manufacturer InterPrint has expanded its production with a Xeikon CX3 digital label printing press and is now working with lower stock levels.

The company specialises in the production of self-adhesive and non-self-adhesive labels on a wide range of substrates. The new Xeikon CX3 digital label printing machine utilises Cheetah technology to digitally print labels on any material, without the need for prior priming.

„We opted for this press because of its dry toner technology, which enables us to work with low stock levels and increase our productivity as there is no need to pre-treat the substrates.“ Tomás Iglesias, CEO of InterPrint

As a labelling specialist with more than 1200 customers in its portfolio, InterPrint produces self-adhesive and non-self-adhesive labels on paper, cardboard, PVC, polyester, thermal transfer labels, labels with hot foil stamping, multi-layer labels and security labels.

Xeikon CX3 uses food-safe inks

„This press allows us to use various substrates of different thicknesses, including heat-sensitive substrates, to produce transparent and white labels with high opacity. Also worth emphasising, that the dry toner inks used are food-safe, as some projects require this conformity and offer a high print quality comparable to offset printing,“ says Tomás Iglesias.

With a resolution of 1200 x 3600 dpi, the Xeikon CX3 label printing machine designed exclusively for self-adhesive and pressure-sensitive labels.

It offers all the advantages of the Xeikon 3000 series, including the use of dry toners, which minimise the Regulations of the US FDA, Nestlé, the Swiss regulations and also the future European regulation on printing inks on food contact materials as well as the option of printing opaque white toner in a single pass.

Available 24 hours a day

For the CEO of InterPrint, working with Cheetah technology has many advantages. „The ability to offer variable data printing, shorter preparation and changeover times for short runs, as the regular runs are under 500 metres, the use of safe dry toner and the availability of the machine in 24-hour operation are good reasons why we opted for this technology.“

The Cheetah dry toner technology requires a much lower fusing temperature than typical toner-based presses, enabling printing on a wide range of heat-sensitive substrates. Xeikon presses utilise dry toner electrophotography, which works with conventional substrates without the need for pre-treatment.

In addition, Xeikon toner offers extremely high light resistance and is a Environmentally friendly printing process, as it does not emit any volatile organic compounds. According to Iglesias, the sustainability of the printing press was another important reason for its purchase.
