The traditional Wolf-Garten brand wants to replace the plastic buckets it has been using for seeds and fertiliser with environmentally friendly cardboard packaging from the STI Group. A practical test is currently underway.
The brand Wolf Garden has stood for innovative garden products made in Germany since 1922. To strengthen the growth segment of organic fertilisers and various seed products, we are now supporting Two sustainable packaging solutions from the STI Group the green brand philosophy and product positioning in retail.
„Our products are for the garden and are already strongly associated with naturalness from their origins. We are working consistently to strengthen our company's sustainable footprint. In addition to this company focus, we are also noticing an increasing desire for such products among our customers.“ Klaus Skuppin, Head of Seed and Fertiliser at MTD Products AG
To strengthen the Natura organic fertiliser segment, but also for selected seed and fertiliser products, the company therefore looked for packaging that reinforces this character. „With the STI Group we have found the right partner, who has advised us on the possibilities and also supported us in the realisation of transferring the topic of sustainability to our packaging,“ says Skuppin.

Cardboard packaging replaces plastic buckets
Goodbye plastic - packaging made from recycled corrugated cardboard could replace the current plastic buckets for seed and fertiliser products from Wolf-Garten in the future. This sustainable alternative allows 2 to 10 kg of contents to be presented attractively and safely. In the Offset printing refined the packaging communicates the product benefits directly to the consumer and emphasises the manufacturer's sustainable claim.
The carrying handle is made of paper, individually adapted to the weight of the contents and makes it easy to take the shopper home with you. A practical test is currently underway with some products in selected DIY stores.

Vegetable raw materials inside and grass outside
For the vegan Natura Bio products, packaging made from grass paper appeals to consumers who attach particular importance to a sustainable product image. Through the conscious No virgin pulp and partial replacement of waste paper with grass the solution is an alternative to conventional materials made from virgin fibres or purely wood-based recycled paper. The cardboard packaging becomes an eye-catcher on the shelf with perfect brand staging and differentiation from competitor products.
