Fish manufactory ships in refrigerated packaging from Ecocool

The fish manufacturer Kalter also ships its fresh products via its online shop and uses refrigerated packaging from Ecocool, including the innovative Innobag shipping bag, whose insulating material is based on cellulose from paper recycling. Pre-frozen cold packs are also used.

The fish manufacturer Kalter also ships its fresh products via its online shop and uses refrigerated packaging from Ecocool, including the innovative Innobag shipping bag, whose insulating material is based on cellulose from paper recycling. Pre-frozen cold packs are also used.

Fresh fish and seafood from Wilhelmshaven: Wolfgang Kalter GmbH has also been offering its products via its online shop „Send-a-fish.de“ for several years and relies on various refrigerated packaging from Ecocool GmbH. To speed up the dispatch process, the packaging specialist from Bremerhaven also provides its customers with extra pre-frozen cooling elements. The insulated packaging and cool packs ensure that the temperature-sensitive goods are always well protected.

The partners Kalter and Ecocool also rely on packaging technology that is as sustainable as possible. The fish retailer uses the Smartcooler shipping bag for its frozen goods and the innovative Innobag shipping bag from Ecocool for fresh fish. The insulating material of both products is characterised by is characterised by a high recycling rate of more than 80 percent. Kalter also purchases the frozen cooling elements ex works and transports them as additional cargo when the freshly caught fish is collected from the harbour in Bremerhaven. This minimises the transport route.

Refrigerated packaging for shipping fish

Smartcooler mailing bags enable in combination with dry ice the dispatch of fish products in standard cardboard packaging. With the appropriate addition of dry ice, the Smartcooler enables a temperature cycle of < -15 °C for 20 to 30 hours at handling temperatures of 18 to 25 °C.

Kalter also uses the innovative Innobag shipping bag for freshly caught fish that is processed and dispatched immediately. The insulating material of the Innobag is based on pulp from paper recycling. In conjunction with the Ecocool cooling elements, the target temperature can be kept below four degrees Celsius for between 24 and 48 hours during despatch - depending on the format and the coolant added.

Pre-frozen cooling elements speed up despatch

A third component is the cooling elements. This is where Kalter to the new service from Ecocool, pre-frozen cold packs ex works on request to offer. These are provided in folding boxes and labelled as being reusable.

The use of pre-frozen Cooling elements enables higher productivity and a significantly higher dispatch volume. This benefits the company particularly during seasonal peaks such as Easter or Christmas. The fish products ordered in the online shop can thus be dispatched very quickly.
