Food is an ideal breeding ground for microorganisms and requires strict hygiene regulations. Moisture also encourages the growth of germs or mould spores, which means that ventilation systems require a great deal of maintenance. UV-C disinfection systems from Sterilsystems GmbH, Salzburg, can provide a remedy.
Irradiation with the high-energy UV-C spectrum inactivates up to 99.9 per cent of all germs, creating a permanently clean production environment. The radiation dose is always adjusted to the application to ensure safe and energy-efficient disinfection.
Disinfection also through vaporisation
UV-C continuous disinfection systems with a split belt simplify the routine sterilisation of goods or packaging, for example. The UV-C systems for surface sterilisation are specially designed for food processing industries in a watertight hygienic design.
But germs and mould spores can also spread through the air. Evaporator disinfection systems therefore prevent biofilms from forming on the fins of air conditioning units, while TR systems are simply installed in the walls of ventilation housings and ducts. The special UV-C circulating air disinfection units labelled "ULE2000", on the other hand, have an integrated fan that adjusts the volume of the air flow to the output of the emitters and thus permanently cleans the room air (pictured in use at Fleischwaren Berger GmbH). All appliances are installed on the IFFA in Frankfurt.
