In the past year Mondi announced an investment in new printing technology for its plant in Grünburg, Upper Austria. The new sheetfed offset press, a Rapida 164 with six inking units and coating equipment (max. sheet format 1,205 x 1,640 mm, printing speeds up to 16,000 sheets/h), is state of the art and was officially commissioned at the beginning of April. The produced Corrugated cardboard sheets can now be printed in a larger format than before (approx. 40 per cent more surface area). can be realised. The higher printing capacity leads to an increase in output of around 35 per cent per hour. In addition, set-up times have been halved compared to the previous machine from 2007. The recyclability of corrugated cardboard packaging through the existing recycling collection systems remains given in the process.
