At the start of LogiMAT in Stuttgart, three companies were honoured with the „Best Product“ award. The prize was awarded to products that increase efficiency in intralogistics. Solutions for process management and intralogistics will be presented at the trade fair up to and including 2 June.
Three companies were honoured with the „Best Product“ award at the opening ceremony of LogiMAT. The independent jury of scientists and journalists selected three award winners from more than one hundred applications received. They fulfil the Competitive conditions: Increased productivity, cost savings and rationalisation. With their products, the award-winning companies make a contribution to secure processes, flexible adaptation to changes and improved efficiency and thus ultimately to increasing productivity in logistics. The laudatory speech was given by Prof Dr Johannes Fottner, Full Professor at the Chair of Materials Handling Material Flow Logistics at the Technical University of Munich.

In the „Identification, packaging and loading technology, load securing“ category, the prize went to Sick Vertriebs-GmbH (Hall 1, Stand F51) for the Deep learning-based system Pacs for the classification of pallet types. The identification system recognises the pallet type based on the branding on the pallet feet and assigns it to a class using a trained neural network. Pallets are automatically labelled on the basis of this assignment. It therefore simplifies an often manual, resource-intensive process and can be integrated into the logistics chain as a compact system with a small footprint.

The modular design of the Pac consists of a combination of hardware and software components from Sick. Depending on project requirements, one or more colour cameras are used for image recording. The software tools Sick Appspace and dStudio support the rapid creation of the solution based on standard hardware. Thanks to the Appspace Eco-System, the solution can be customised on site. Based on intuitive user interfaces, the operation of the system No prior knowledge of programming or machine learning required. As an option, the functionality of the system can be quickly and easily expanded with additional sensors, such as barcode reading or pallet measurement.
Efficiency with software and robots
The best products in the categories „Picking, conveying, lifting and storage technology“ and „Software, communication, IT“ were also honoured. In the first category, the prize went to Bosch Rexroth AG (Hall 2, Stand B21) and its Assembly Technology division. The company scored highly with its autonomous mobile robot ActiveShuttle. The driverless transport vehicle Automates and standardises the internal flow of materials and goods and creates transparent and efficient internal processes.
The start-up Synaos GmbH (Hallo 2, Stand A21) won in the „Software, Communication, IT“ category with its intralogistics management platform SYNA.OS Logistics. The software orchestrates factories and logistics centres using artificial intelligence and the latest cloud technology. The software system synchronises vehicles, forklift trucks and mobile robots based on their real-time data and thus utilises complexity as an advantage. Functionalities such as Order & Process Management, Asset Control, Storage Management, Vehicle & Operator Management and Vehicle Localisation optimise processes with AI-based algorithms every second, thereby increasing efficiency.
The three products honoured with the „Best Product 2022“ award are exemplary for all other international exhibitors at the LogiMAT, showcasing their innovations to trade visitors. The trade fair for intralogistics solutions and process management will take place at the exhibition grounds in Stuttgart until 2 June 2022.
