Gerresheimer Boleslawiec S.A. has been manufacturing glass vials and ampoules since 1952 and is celebrating its 70th anniversary on 27 August.

Gerresheimer Boleslawiec S.A. has been manufacturing glass vials and ampoules since 1952. On 27 August, the company turns 70 and looks back on the development and manufacture of various products and materials.

The „Polfa“ production of glass vials and ampoules was expanded in 1972 when the department for plastic packaging and for medical packaging based on aluminium containers was set up. In 1984, aluminium tubes were also added to production. In the 1980s, various special solutions for medical devices were manufactured in production and offered on the market.

At that time, the company focused primarily on being a strong supplier of a wide range of glass, plastic and aluminium packaging. In 1995, the state-owned company was transformed into a public limited company and In 1997, the Gerresheimer Group „Polfa“. In 2003, it was decided to split the business into two units, one focusing on glass and the other on plastics and aluminium.

Today, the plastics department develops and manufactures ophthalmic, nasal and parenteral applications. Products for ophthalmic and nasal applications include bottles and droppers/nozzles, caps and nasal sprays with pump systems. Various materials, sizes and designs are available, as well as closures with child-resistant and senior-friendly features. The monolayer polymer vials are based on the COP material for sensitive medicines. The glass department develops and produces clear and amber tubular glass type I, amber glass type II and clear glass type III. The product range includes Ampoules, vials and cartridges that can be printed or unprinted. can be supplied, as well as samplers and droppers. Production takes place in class 7 clean rooms for plastic and class 8 for glass. They apply the rules of GMP and are certified according to ISO standards.
