In the more than 210 years that Scheufele Druck & Medien has been in business, there have been constant changes in the printing trade and the company has had to face up to new challenges and technologies. Thanks to continuous modernisation, the company has survived to this day.
As soon as you enter Scheufele Druck & Medien in Stuttgart, you are confronted with the beginnings of the printing trade. There is actually a platen printing press on which the law gazettes of Baden-Württemberg were printed as early as 1837. Immediately following this, large-format images with motifs from the current machinery and production landscape illustrate the Constant metamorphosis of the company. Whereas in the 19th and 20th centuries, books and Bibles were produced here almost exclusively, in addition to law gazettes, the company is now much more diversified and caters for all commercial printing requirements. The Specialisation in high-quality printing on uncoated papers, supported by a modern LE-UV application.

„Without the constant willingness to invest in modernisation and time-saving measures, we would probably no longer exist as one of Stuttgart's oldest companies. Almost every day, we ask ourselves how we can make our workflow even more effective. And sometimes you have to pick the flower by the wayside in order to achieve an overall goal. In other words, the things that, aside from major investments, help us to work faster, with better quality and more employee-friendly. And economy does not have to be at the expense of ecology.“

An apt example of this are the installed colour feed systems from Samoa Flowtech (formerly Betz) from Marktheidenfeld in Bavaria. „We have both a central drum supply system from Samoa Flowtech, as well as the linear travelling system for automatic emptying of 2.5 kg standard metal or plastic cans with simultaneous stirring on our printing machines. And the positive effect in terms of savings was immediately measurable: whereas we used to have an assistant for each machine, one machine assistant is now completely sufficient for two printing machines. The systems are more reliable, virtually maintenance-free, as well as more constant in comparison to human resources and with 365 days of use a year, amortisation was achieved quickly!“
„On the one hand, it is the high availability and simple handling of the systems. Two to three buttons guarantee intuitive operation - the systems do the rest completely on their own. Secondly, we protect the environment by using fewer paint cans. In principle, the squeegee can do it completely, but it is not possible to do it by hand when filling the paint cans. We also save on the procurement of paint drums for our central dosing system, as the price of a 200 kg drum is noticeably cheaper than the same quantity of conventional paint cans.“
Bernd Eisinger

All in all and calculated over the year, the company achieves significant cost benefits with the peripheral measures and solutions. This can also be seen in the key figures: turnover has almost doubled in the last 12 years while at the same time Introduction of a three-shift model with the same number of employees. We will continue to work on streamlining structures and increasing efficiency in the future.
