Syntegon is presenting the latest version of the Kliklok BEC sideloader cartoner at this year's interpack. The redesigned machine features an optimised drive system and a Human Machine Interface (HMI) 4.0 for easy connection to the digital service portfolio.
The Kliklok BEC is particularly suitable for for medium-sized companies, who want to automate their cartoning.
„The new Kliklok BEC combines the advantages of our proven machine series with interesting technological enhancements to meet the requirements of modern, automated production processes. We attach particular importance to stable processes, simple line integration and maximum connection with Syntegon's digital service solutions.“
Russell Morgan, Technical Sales Manager at Kliklok in Bristol.

From the food and personal care to the electronics industry, medium-sized companies rely on automated production processes to secure their long-term growth. You need robust, affordable technologies for this, that optimally support their production goals. The new Kliklok BEC side loader makes a contribution to this: as an entry-level machine the latest model has servomotors instead of mechanical drive technology - an important prerequisite for stable processes. „By switching to servo technology, we can optimally synchronise various drive components and thus enable reproducible loading processes. The more precisely the products are placed in the cartons, the fewer rejects and downtimes occur,“ explains Morgan.
In addition to the revised drive technology, Kliklok has also redesigned the frame of the BEC. Thanks to the new design, the footprint has been reduced. The machine remains easily accessible and is extremely user-friendly. The control technology from Beckhoff in discreet CPU boxes ensures simple cabling without control cabinets - and therefore a compact system layout. The reduced footprint of the BEC is suitable for operating the cartoner in confined spaces. In combination with the hygienic stainless steel design (IP54), the BEC side loader offers a robust, hygienic and highly reliable cartoning solution.
Connection with digital services
As a company grows, the requirements for comprehensive monitoring increase. This requires connectivity of the system and access to digital services. With its ultra-modern HMI 4.0, the BEC enables optimum Integration of the system into existing lines and at the same time offers a easy access to Syntegon's digital service solutions. The various connection options and the control system enable customers to do more than simply connect the cartoner to a company's higher-level ERP system. Thanks to the interface, they can also seamlessly integrate the BEC into upstream and downstream processes. The HMI 4.0 also offers a secure connection to Syntegon's digital service portfolio.
On the interpack 2023 Syntegon shows the Kliklok BEC as part of an integrated line for packaging layer cakes. A robotic pick-and-place platform (RPP) will load five pieces of cake packed in tubular bags into the BEC infeed, which will then be packed into cardboard boxes using the side-loading method. The BEC achieves an output of up to 135 cartons per minute. To do this, the patented rotary feeder pulls the carton blanks from a stack and erects them completely before the products are securely placed inside - this is how the BEC ensures optimum carton control. After cartoning, an Elematic 1001 TL case packer loads the cartons into RSC transport cartons using the topload method.
