Hovmand has developed a new lift with an e-drive function that can move and lift several hundred kilograms effortlessly with the help of motorised rear wheels. This reduces the risk of physical overload and work-related injuries for users of the lifting device.
The new feature ensures that the user of the lift has to exert considerably less effort and that a less physical strain than with manual transport is exposed. „It's a revolution for the industry. I see the lift as a new era for ergonomic lifting solutions,“ says engineer Niklas Hasforth Eliasen from Hovmand A/S. He is one of the developers of the new lift.
The functional mechanisms of the e-drive are easy to understand: Motors are installed in the rear wheels of the lift and the handle is equipped with sensors. This means that when the material needs to be moved from A to B, the user places their hands on the handle and applies light pressure. the sensors recognise the direction in which the user pushes, pulls or turns and support it by starting the motor, just like an e-bike, for example. The lift is also easy to turn and manoeuvre - even in confined production areas and storage facilities.
Hovmand's lift with e-drive retains the simple, classic steel design of the company's other lifting solutions. And like the other Hovmand lifts, the e-drive lift can also be customised to the needs of companies. The handle is adjustable, the leg sets can be adjusted to the desired length and width and the lifting column height is variable.
In addition, various tools can be attached to the lift, such as gripper arms, a fork, a clamping and rotating unit or a platform. This means that the lift for lifting and transporting any objects can be used for everything from drums and film reels to crates and buckets. Companies that already have a Hovmand lift can the new e-drive function.
The last step towards real ergonomics
The new lift with e-drive was developed and produced at Hovmand's headquarters in Køge, just outside Copenhagen. Since 1972, the Danish family business has been producing lifting solutions for companies in many industries, such as the Food, pharmaceutical and storage industry. In the standard range, the lifting solution with e-drive can lift loads of up to 150 kg.
„The e-drive lift is the latest step towards true ergonomics. It's not easy to push heavy material around, but with the new lift, users can simply put their hands on it and drive around with up to 200 kilograms in a relaxed manner.“
