
The reusable bottle made from thermally tempered lightweight glass using the Vetropack Group's Echovai process has won the prestigious Swiss Packaging Award in the „Technology“ category. Compared to standard bottles, the product proves to be more stable and, above all, more environmentally friendly.
Vetropack Group's Innovation Centre has been researching the process for almost ten years. With Echovai, it is now possible for the first time, thermally controlled tempering of glass bottles and economical production of lightweight glass bottles. In the pilot project with the Austrian Mohrenbrauerei, several million of the lightweight glass bottles were produced and tested. By using Echovai, the 0.33-litre returnable containers A weight saving of around 30 per cent compared to standard bottles is achieved. The lightweight glass bottle also proved to be significantly more abrasion-resistant than conventional returnable bottles. This pioneering achievement impressed the jury and Echovai was honoured with the Swiss Packaging Award in the „Technology“ category.
But that's not all: the jury also honoured the lightweight glass bottle from Echovai with a special award. With its outstanding properties, Echovai came out on top among 21 nominated packaging solutions. With its victory The innovative lightweight glass bottle also qualified for the Word Packaging Award, which the Swiss development team is very pleased about.
