Koenig & Bauer has concluded a co-operation agreement with the printing ink specialist Hubergroup Print Solutions. The agreement covers co-operation in the field of conventional printing inks specifically for Rapida sheetfed offset presses.

The agreement was preceded by extensive tests with Hubergroup's printing inks. These were optimised for high-performance printing on the Rapida presses and are subject to continuous quality monitoring due to their constant use in Koenig & Bauer's CEC. The press manufacturer therefore exclusively recommends the use of these tested and approved printing inks on Rapida sheetfed offset presses worldwide.

The aim of the co-operation is to, to harmonise the products of both manufacturers more and more closely. The agreement also includes the development of a joint sustainability strategy (health protection, cradle-to-cradle concept, certifications) as well as the joint development and marketing of printing inks for primary food packaging. Customised concepts for brand owners are also to be developed and strategic and technological development projects tackled.

In addition to the development partnership, the two companies work closely together at international trade fairs, customer events and product training programmes.

The users receive a starter kit with printing inks with every new Rapida press from Hubergroup. These inks are used to commission the machine - along with guarantees regarding performance and print quality. Following this commissioning and test phase, customers can use these recommended colours for further use via the distribution systems of both companies. In this way, they benefit from coordinated, optimised products and their further development in their production.
