Heinz is now equipping the squeeze bottles for its tomato ketchup with a completely recyclable cap. It is made of mono-material, is expected to be launched on the UK market in August and replaces the previous standard closure with a silicone valve.
With the new cap made from recyclable mono-material, the tomato ketchup can be squeezed out of the bottle just as easily as with the previous flexible silicone valve of the standard cap. According to a study, the new cap even makes it possible to squeeze more ketchup out of the bottle when it is almost empty.
Heinz is labelling the new closures with the words „100 % recyclable“ and hopes that the introduction will bring the company closer to its goal, to reduce the consumption of virgin plastic by 20 per cent by 2030 and to make all packaging recyclable, reusable or compostable by 2025.
„We know that our consumers care about their impact on the environment, and so do we. That's why we're delighted that our innovative, more sustainable caps on Heinz Tomato Ketchup bottles will soon be available across the UK. Even though it's only a small change, it will now be easier to recycle the entire squeeze bottle - a small action with big impact potential.“ Jojo de Noronha, President Kraft Heinz Northern Europe
