CHEP offers customers a new solution for the in-store promotion of products. The new Q+ plastic quarter pallet is made from post-consumer recyclate and is the prototype of the Q+ Reusable Displays.

Designed as a circular product, the new modular display consists of a flexible number of „trays“ or shelves that stack on either the static or the rollable Q+ quarter pallet in various configurations leave. In this way, it is easy to co-pack different types of products at the desired height. This enables brands to run creative promotions that increase the visibility of their products. At the same time these reduce the consumption of disposable secondary packaging, especially cartonboard, and thus the CO2-emissions from their advertising campaigns.

In order to test the performance of the Q+ Reusable Display in practice, tests are currently underway in Several test runs in collaboration with various brands. Different product categories are being tested on the sales floor using three different merchandising options. The tests are intended to help set standards for safe and effective handling in German retail.

Disposable materials, such as cardboard displays for point-of-sale (POS) promotions, are essential for increasing brand presence and sales, but generate a large amount of waste. The CHEP-product innovation team has developed a modular solution that can be customised according to the Share and reuse in a closed cycle using the pooling principle can be realised. The principles of circular design come into play here. It consists of recycling and processing at least 80 per cent post-consumer plastic waste.

Every shelf produced by CHEP contains 2.1 kg of plastic waste recycled and upcycled into a product, that lasts longer in the ecological system of sales promotion. All components are fully recyclable at the end of their product life cycle and are further processed into new reusable packaging solutions, which ensures CHEP's strictly controlled chain of custody.

In addition, the new Q+ Reusable Display enables the Savings of up to 80 per cent on disposable cardboard packaging and thus the implementation of more sustainable promotions: The preliminary life cycle analysis carried out by Global Factor, a certified independent institute, shows a Reduction of CO2-emissions by 30 per cent to 40 per cent compared to conventional cardboard displays.

„In this new generation of store solutions, we have integrated the ambitious principles of circular design to eliminate waste and pollution from the outset. The result is improved packaging solutions with a higher sustainability value.“

With this programme, the company aims to go beyond zero (zero emissions, zero waste, zero deforestation) and expand its circular model and collaborations to more partners in all regions.

„With less negative overall impact, successful promotions are no longer at odds with the environment. We want to get as many customers and partners on board as possible, because with our Q+ range of solutions in general and our Q+ Reusable Display in particular, we not only offer them added value. Snap-in attachments make it safe and easy to assemble the shelves, so that the display only needs to be wrapped. The perforated loading surface with pinned surface ensures that products are secured during transport. With a load capacity of up to 40 kg per shelf and a gross exhibition weight of 250 kg, the stable solution is also suitable for heavier items.
