Paul Vahle GmbH will be showcasing several updates to its Smart Collector at SPS. The new functions include a thermal sensor. The phase distances of the predictive maintenance toll have also been extended and can now be used in high-bay warehouses and sorting systems.
„With the recently implemented improvements, we can present a Smart Collector at the SPS that is even more powerful and versatile at the same time. In the predictive maintenance approach, which is an integral part of our system, we see the The key to the future of industrial automation“, says Vahle Product Manager Jessica Genz. The innovative Solution for the energy supply of mobile systems makes it possible to prevent unplanned production downtimes and make the manufacturing process more worry-free.
Only recently Vahle equipped the Smart Collector with new functions and made it IDAA-capable, among other things. The abbreviation stands for Intelligent Dynamic Anomaly Analysis. A method in which the entire system is permanently measured and analysed for its condition in real time, parallel to system operation. Now the Intelligent current collectors Further upgrades The new system is available in the form of a thermal sensor that continuously measures the temperatures of the conductor rail during the journey. In this way Assembly errors or defects, for example at transitions or poorly contacted connection points, detected at an early stage can be realised. The use of the thermosensor can therefore significantly increase the safety and efficiency of systems.
„Our main unit already has a slot for the thermal sensor, so customers don't need to purchase new hardware components or replace existing parts.“

The main unit analyses the data from the thermal sensor in real time and sends a warning message to the data centre as soon as it detects thermal peaks. Analogue to the already known Transaction data messages are then displayed in a traffic light system for the user. „And the best thing about it: customers who purchase the software package in the early bird concept by the end of 2025 will not incur any additional costs for this high-quality extension,“ continues the product manager.
Another new feature is the Smart Collector's extended range of applications. From now on, it can also used in areas such as high-bay warehouses and sorting systems can be used. By extending the phase spacing, the predictive maintenance tool can now also monitor systems with a phase spacing of 18 mm and 26 mm, such as those found in the Vahle busbar systems VKS and U20.
Vahle also has news outside of the product portfolio. This year, for example, the trade fair stand will have a completely new look. For the first time, the leading system provider for mobile industrial applications will be installing an electric monorail system, which will enable the Smart Collector presented live and in action can be realised.
