Opitz Packaging Systems GmbH has relocated from Düderode to Northeim. The manufacturer of packaging machines invested 6.5 million euros in a new company building, quadrupling its space capacity.

After Storopack Hans Reichenecker GmbH acquired a 74.9 per cent majority stake in the company in October 2021, both companies planned this investment as an initial measure to prepare for future growth. On 3,250 square metres, the internationally sought-after company has quadrupled its space capacity. Thanks to a very good order situation, the number of employees has risen to currently 56. The energy-efficient new building was realised with regional companies and financial partners. The old Düderode site will be retained for the machining technology segment.

„We are still experiencing a strong increase in national and international demand and had decided to realise a new building in a logistically improved location in Northeim. We have now quadrupled our space capacity.“

The new site offers the manufacturer of semi-automatic and fully automatic packaging systems completely new possibilities: „We can work on up to 15 projects in parallel, realise customer-specific packaging modules in series and set up and test complete final packaging lines."

The new company building fulfils the highest standards and has, for example, a state-of-the-art camera-based warehouse lift system. The building also fulfils the KfW 40 requirements and only requires 40 percent primary energy. A PV system generates electricity, a heat pump supplies the heating and LED lights are used to illuminate the offices and production area.

In these times of booming online shopping and the growing demand for packaging machines from Opitz rapidly growing international demand for parcel shipping. „We are very well positioned for the future for our customers, which also include numerous ‚big players‘ in the mail order business, thanks to options for structural expansion,“ says Tim Opitz.
