Two packaging solutions made from Metsä Board's virgin fibre paperboard were awarded „Gold“ at this year's European Carton Excellence Award 2023. The winners are packaging for Karbest's Carrés de Chocolat Noir and a packaging concept for Spirit Brothers.
One of the two winners is the packaging of the Carrés de Chocolat Noir from Karbest. Here was successfully reduced the amount of plastic, by replacing the previous plastic tray with fresh fibre board from Metsä Board - specifically the MetsäBoard Pro FBB Bright grade.
The packaging concept developed by Lucaprint for Spirit Brothers also won gold. It is without the use of adhesive because the strategic design of the packaging in combination with the Securely closed with a separate drawstring is. The packaging is made from MetsäBoard Pro FBB OBAfree.
„We are honoured to receive these awards,” sums up Anders Ek, Metsä Board's Sales Director, Converters, FBB EMEA. „We are particularly pleased that one of the winners is packaging, in which plastic was replaced by our cardboard. This is a very good and concrete example of how our cartonboard qualities contribute to reducing the amount of plastic in the packaging sector.“ The competition is organised by the European Association of Cartonboard and Folding Carton Manufacturers, Pro Carton, and the European Carton Markers Association ECMA.
